Welcome to Chestnut Grove Kindergarten Clacton-on-Sea
Chestnut Grove Kindergarten opened 1st April 2010 and is located next to the Clacton Coastal Academy on Pathfields Road.
Director and Nursery Principal Denise Hawke has worked within child care for over 25 years, using that experience she has managed to put together a second to none team of highly skilled, focused and dedicated child care staff.
The Kindergarten has gone from strength to strength and currently demand for places is very high.
Acorns is our 0-2 year old room. Megan is our N.V.Q Level 3 room leader and along with her room assistants offer a home from home experience where cuddles and care is the order of the day. A wide variety of activities such as heuristic play, treasure baskets and sensory toys is on offer to help stimulate and excite the children and enable them to flourish in a safe and inspiring environment.
Conkers room is our 2-3 year old room. Hanna and Abby along with their team of dedicated staff have worked extremely hard to create a safe and stimulating environment. Thought provoking activities such as messy play, art and craft and lots of singing, dancing and musical instruments allow the children to explore and question the world around them. Conkers has direct access to our garden and enjoy a range of activities in all weathers.
Willows is our rising 3’s room and is run by Emma and Elaine who have level 3 qualifications and many years of experience. Willows offer activities such as role play, where the children can dress up and use their imaginations and senses and circle time where the children sit down and learn about the days of the week and have stories. Hanna and her team have worked hard to keep the room new and fresh creating a sense of excitement and awe in the children.
Hollies is a rising 3 year old room and is run by Sarah who is a highly experienced practitioner. Sarah and her team offer activities such as reading, mark making, independence with dressing, personal hygiene and developing listening and communication skills. Outdoor play is a big part of the day, taking our activities into the garden helps us develop in a multi-sensory environment. The team work in partnership with local schools to ensure the transition is as smooth as possible for the children.
Mighty Oak’s is our 3-4 year old room and is run by Lisa who is N.V.Q level 3 qualified. Lisa and her highly motivated team are helping to prepare the children for school and offer many activities to support their transition. Role play, persona dolls and learning Makaton are a few of the activities on offer and the team work closely with parents/carers and local schools helping the children with their transition to school.
This area has been recently updated and boasts a growing area with a mud kitchen, sand pit and messy play area, climbing frame and slide, undercover area as well as a wide range of activities for your children to engage in. The garden area also boasts artificial grass so that the children can spend time in the garden in all weathers.

Chestnut Grove has provided a friendly, secure and enjoyable environment for my 3 boys. They have flexible friendly staff, who are willing to help follow my children’s daily routines. Most importantly Chestnut Grove have provided me with the confidence that my children are safe, secure and well looked after… Certainly a home from home for the boys!!!
Chestnut Grove is a very friendly nursery and the staff are very helpful, the nursery is also very convenient as they are the only nursery in the area that open at 7.30am. My children seem to be learning many skills and they very much look forward to going.
Out little boy started in April & absolutely loves it there , the nursery staff are so welcoming 100% recommend.
Alfie’s last year here he started at 9 months old. He has a massive circle of friends. It’s clean, friendly & very secure. I’m so glad I chose to send him here but sad he will leave to go to school in September thank you to all the staff for caring for my son & being so kind & friendly all the time.
